The Software Technical Director will provide overall technical leadership and strategic direction for software development in the healthcare domain. This role focuses on ensuring that all technical decisions, architectures, and delivery practices align with organizational goals and healthcare industry regulations. The Director will oversee multiple technical teams, guide the adoption of best practices, and ensure systems are scalable, secure, and interoperable with healthcare standards. This position bridges executive vision and day-to-day technical execution, ensuring the software portfolio supports patient care, compliance, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and drive the technical strategy for healthcare software platforms, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements (HIPAA-equivalent, HL7 FHIR, ISO 13485).
- Oversee multiple technical teams, including architects, technical heads, and leads, ensuring consistency of design, coding standards, and technology adoption.
- Evaluate and approve technology stack decisions (.NET, Flutter, SQL Server/Postgres, AI/ML components) in alignment with solution and software architects.
- Collaborate with product management and delivery teams to balance innovation, compliance, and scalability in software roadmaps.
- Lead technical reviews, risk assessments, and audits to ensure data security, patient privacy, and high availability in clinical environments.
- Mentor and develop senior technical leaders, fostering a culture of engineering excellence and continuous learning.
- Represent the technical organization in discussions with healthcare partners, regulatory bodies, and vendors.
- Monitor emerging healthcare technologies and recommend adoption where appropriate (IoT in patient monitoring, AI-driven diagnostics).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in software development and architecture, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong track record in building and scaling healthcare IT solutions or regulated-industry platforms.
- Expertise in enterprise architecture, cloud solutions, microservices, and integration with healthcare standards (HL7 FHIR, DICOM, CDA).
- Experience leading cross-functional teams across multiple technology domains.
- Strong communication skills in English (Arabic preferred), with the ability to present to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in Middle East healthcare IT projects.
- Certifications such as TOGAF, AWS Solutions Architect, or Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect.
- Exposure to AI/ML, data analytics, or blockchain in healthcare contexts.
